Free Athletic Development Workshop next Thursday May 17th at Clubhouse and Pitch.

Athletic Development Workshop this Thursday for all club coaches or anyone interested in Strength and Conditioning and Athletic Development. This a free Workshop and will run from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, it will take the form of some indoor presentation and some outdoor practical. Our U14B squad will take part in the practical demonstrations.

 

Introduction to Strength and Conditioning

Athletic Development’s coach education workshops demystify the science of youth athlete development, providing coaches with a comprehensive guide to the what, why and how of all aspects of fitness appropriate for young and developing players.

 

Facilitated by youth fitness specialists; we aim to give attending coaches a background in the fundamental areas of youth athlete development, including but not limited to:

  • Resistance training/Strength training
  • Agility
  • Balance
  • Speed
  • Core strength and stability
  • Injury prevention
  • Dynamic Warm-up
  • Flexibility and stretching
  • Long term athlete development

 

Attendees will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of the need/process of athlete development
  • Acquire the knowledge, skill and confidence to include developmentally  appropriate Strength & Conditioning training into their current sessions
  • Be encouraged to shape their workshop through constant interaction, meeting  their individual educational needs
  • Be able to provide developmentally appropriate physical training to their athletes
  • Help their young athletes/players to reach their full athletic potential

 Introduction to Athletic Development

 

Introduction to Strength and Conditioning with emphasis on developing players, pre-season fitness, injury prevention and season long physical training (45 mins):

  • The Science behind Strength and Conditioning explained in a practical format
  • Introduction to resistance training for young and developing athletes
  • Looking at traditional methods vs modern, contemporary approach to physical training
  • Why it’s important, when and where to implement this type of training
  • Explaining the need for an athletic base/foundation of athleticism

Short break

Practical Session on pitch/in hall (45 mins):

On pitch demo session with introduction to Resistance Training through circuits:

  • Dynamic warm-up
  • Maximising limited training time and resources
  • Practical, systematic, progressive physical development through correct training
  • Include Q&A section at the end of the demo session
  • Flexible throughout to tackle all issues/specific questions that arise

 

Practical Session on pitch/in hall (20 mins):

  • How to manipulate the 5 variables of small sided games to optimise athlete development and control intensity

Q&A session wrap up (15 mins)
